Of course, companies only keep doing these kinds of things because it makes them tons of money, so I feel like I'm really just shouting into a void. On top of all that, there are so many AAA games that release these days that are just poorly programmed or optimized, Cyberpunk being the most recent and certainly one of the worst offenders. Microtransactions are only becoming more frequent and less subtle in their attempts to get us to pay even more money in addition to what it cost just to by the game. This deal means that these pretty much wont be on PS5 (outside of the. AAA games as a genre have just become so hostile to the customer, blatantly trying to take as much money from you as they can while making games that are just nice, fancy graphics with little actual substance.

I still frequently play pc games, and there are still new games coming out occasionally that I'm interested in, but by far I am nowhere near as hyped for the next big AAA release as I used to be.
What do you guys think? Do people even like playing video games anymore or has it become part of the cultural zeitgeist to just dump on them? It's easier to drive engagement by misrepresenting a story and getting shares, comments, and ad impressions by telling people Witcher 4 could be online only EGS exclusive than "well we don't really have info either way". You'd think CDPR kidnapped peoples families and defrauded them with the comments that propagated that subreddit. Like yes Cyberpunk was buggy but the sheer vitriol it caused was ridiculous. I understand calling out BS when it happens. Now it seems that if anything is an issue, it is magnified 20 fold by people beating it to death as the worst thing since the NGage. If a game was buggy you just dealt with it, maybe complained to your friends. I started gaming in 2003 when there weren't really any forums to talk about games and I recall most experiences being good.

Free EGS titles and news are frequently downvoted, and overall PC gamers just seem furious at everything. Every new release is slammed for any and all issues. That’s undermining the sub-model I think.This subreddit seems overwhelming negative. B元 also landed with a bit of a thud because of the EGS exclusivity and absolutely abysmal. Not sure if thats one that requires the new humble launcher though. And… Steam and EGS do basically have demos as well. I cannot really make use of it since there are too many titles requesting too much time. But the subscription model for games just means the luxury of having a lot of demos. I can listen to enough songs a week to enjoy the borrowed content wholeheartedly. Even if I like to own my music Spotify makes sense for daily use. The subscription model isn’t as fitting for games as it is for music or movies/tv shows since time is a more significant factor. One GamePass too many games… Therefore I consider it a mere demo platform or a way to play an AAA/exclusive title on release for a cheap resub.
